Join Peruvian ceremonialist and healer Arkan Lushwala, a cherished partner and mentor to Pachamama Alliance, in conversation with the global community to mark the upcoming equinox.

This equinox observation will take place from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. PT (UTC-8) on Friday, March 19.

The equinox is a time of transition, both of the seasons and of our internal journey, moving towards rebirth in the Northern Hemisphere and harvest in the Southern Hemisphere. Day and night are in equal balance, reminding us to seek balance in our own lives. Society is immersed in transition at this time as well, as the systems of modernity are increasingly out of balance. In this conversation, Arkan will share his thoughts on the significance of this moment in the year and in history, and will respond to questions from the audience.

Visionaries are those who believe that a new and different world is possible and dedicate their lives to this end.

Together we will be envisioning an evolutionary future meaningfully in terms of how we might collaborate, extending the ‘me’ to encompass the ‘we and the ‘all’; not only for our human family, but the entire biosphere – extending out to potential forms of life throughout the universe.

Three of the WholeWorld-View core team, Jude Currivan, Anne Marie Voorhoeve and Janice Dolley are joining Chloe Goodchild and David Lorimer in a donation-based webinar hosted by the Scientific and Medical Network.

Climate change is not just an environmental issue. It has far-reaching implications for our efforts to relieve poverty, to establish and maintain peace, and for the economy. United Nations Secretary General António Guterres has said  “We are in trouble. We are in deep trouble with climate change.” “It is hard to overstate the urgency of our situation. Even as we witness devastating climate impacts causing havoc across the world, we are still not doing enough, nor moving fast enough, to prevent irreversible and catastrophic climate disruption.”

Many climate-change related natural disasters such as more devastating storms, heat waves, droughts, and wildfires, as well as heavy downpours, floods, and mud slides have already caused much human suffering and economic loss. Many plant and animal species cannot survive the rising temperature, and the Earth’s natural systems, on which humans depend, are at risk. Rising sea levels threaten low-lying coastal areas all over the world, including large coastal cities. Many millions of people will become refugees. The threat of climate change to us, our children and grandchildren is immense and its long-term consequences are unprecedented in human history. The people who suffer first and the most from the impacts of climate change are the poor, people of color, and indigenous people, while the rich people of the world are most responsible. Therefore, climate change is an issue of justice. At the same time, many people are confused, because climate change is a complex issue and because political and vested interests have shed false doubts about climate science.

This course on Climate Change provides a basic understanding of the causes and impacts of climate change, discusses its ethical challenges, and relates them to the spiritual teachings of the world’s religions, particularly those of the Baha’i Faith. It will help you consider changes in your lifestyle to bring greater coherence to your life and show you how to incorporate environmental and social responsibility in your community gatherings. It elevates public discourse above partisan politics by introducing spiritual responses to the climate crisis and demonstrates how the harmony of science and religion can be applied for the well-being of humankind.

The course, which is open to people of all, or no, religious backgrounds, includes many optional resources for those who wish to delve more deeply into climate-change issues.

Volunteer and take action in your own life for peace, sustainability and transformation in a variety of ways, such as:

    • Save electricity by plugging appliances into a power strip and turning them off completely when not in use, including your computer.
    • Stop paper bank statements and pay your bills online or via mobile.
    • Share, don’t just like. If you see an interesting social media post about women’s rights or climate change, share it so folks in your network see it too.
    • Speak up! Ask your local and national authorities to engage in initiatives that don’t harm people or the planet. You can also voice your support for the Paris Agreement and ask your Local or State government to pass a Resolution in support of it if it hasn’t yet.
    • Turn off the lights. Your TV or computer screen provides a cosy glow, so turn off other lights if you don’t need them.
    • Report online bullies. If you notice harassment on a message board or in a chat room, flag that person.
    • Stay informed. Follow your local news and stay in touch with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals online or on social media at @GlobalGoalsUN.
    • Talk about your actions to achieve the 17 Global Goals by using the hashtag #globalgoals on social networks.
    • In addition to the above, offset your remaining carbon emissions! You can calculate your carbon footprint and purchase climate credits from Climate Neutral Now. In this way, you help reduce global emissions faster!
